Trademark Scammers at It Again, Versus….Me!

Back in early 2015, I wrote a post relaying a USPTO and WIPO warning to trademark owners about unscrupulous companies that send very official-looking invoices asking for substantial amounts of money for doing absolutely nothing. Around that time, a trademark registration client forwarded a notice he had received from one of these scammers. Jump forward more than a year, and I am here to report that I finally received one a week ago. Fortunately, this outfit is already on their radar.

The “company” is called “Trademark-DB Corp.” and they are out of Pearland, TX according to their bogus invoice, which you can take a look at here. As the invoice says, they are the “Register of Protected Trademarks”(!?), and they want nearly $1000-for what, I don’t know. They obviously trolled the publicly-available TESS records for the info in the invoice to make it appear like they are in the know. Can’t wait to see if they have the chutzpah to respond to the letter I am about to send them…
